Some Marvel Barside Buzz today around Avengers: Doomsday casting rumors, including Shuri, plus rumored Austin Butler Nova talks. Today’s rumors come from Daniel RPK on his Patreon.
Daniel says now that filming is getting under way on Avengers: Doomsday the casting process is in full swing. Daniel’s heard Marvel are casting a new male ‘agent’ role for Doomsday and it’s an important role. He’s also heard that Shuri is in for both Doomsday and Secret Wars. Which, obviously also means actress Letitia Wright.
Sets are currently being built in the U.K. for production to begin on Doomsday. Several Marvel alumni have been spotted in London ahead of filming starting.

Now on to the recent news that the work on the Nova series has been paused. There’s been a few rumors around casting for this. Surprisingly, Daniel says he’s heard Austin Butler was in talks to play Richard Rider, the lead role. I do find this one a struggle to get my head round. If Nova was a movie, then I get it. Yet, I feel Butler is currently just too big to be looking at a leading role in a series.
Then again, MTTSH is saying Henry Cavill was Marvel’s choice to play Annihilus also. I don’t cover her scoops any longer, but worth mentioning. Perhaps the overambitious cast was one of the things the series was paused for? I still think Nova would make a better movie than a series myself.
Lastly, Daniel claims that Michael Green is no longer writing Marvel’s Midnight Suns movie. He says Marvel are looking for a new writer for that film as Green is executive producing Amazon’s Blade Runner series. Well, writers change all the time on this movies. Any regular reader of this site knows that.
