Okay, ladies and gents. Avengers: Endgame has officially had their tickets on sale for a couple of days now, and with that, box office predictions for its opening weekend are already rolling in. The film is set to hit theaters on Thursday, April 25, and given its overall importance in an already-important Cinematic Universe, you know it will be making some ginormous box office bucks. The big question has been…just how much will it make?

Very recently, we reported on the potential for the movie to break $800 million, but at the time, in spite of what the headlines were saying, it was never technically projected to make that much. That number was reflecting its simultaneous worldwide release and assuming it would do in the various territories what Avengers: Infinity War. Now, the projections are rolling in and we can assess whether that figure was a reality or just a pipe dream.

According to a new report from THR, Avengers: Endgame is tracking between $200 million and $250 million. For comparison, Infinity War opened to $257.6 million in North America. So, yeah, it’s not quite those figures, but that’s HUGE regardless of which way you slice it. That being said, it’s worth remembering that projections for Marvel Studios movies have been notoriously conservative as of late. For example, Infinity War was tracking to hit $185 million to $225 million in its opening weekend in North America, so with that in mind, Endgame could very well hit around $280 million, which would be a huge record. To be clear, that last figure is my own speculation based on all the evidence, not an official projection.

Regardless, all the evidence does seem to be pointing to a record opening haul for the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When tickets went on sale, it clogged many sites and even brought AMC down to its knees. It has even broken 24-hour pre-sales records. With all that in mind, including its day-and-date release with China, things are looking up for Avengers: Endgame.
