Avengers: Infinity War Granted Extension In China, Which Should Help It Hit $2 Billion.

Avengers: Infinity War is destroying the box office this summer at home and abroad. The movie has already achieved status as the highest grossing opening weekend of all time domestically and could be set to pass the $2 billion mark worldwide by early next week.

Thanks to Deadline we now know achieving the target will be helped by Infinity War being granted a 30-day extension to its run in China. The Chinese market was forced to wait a little longer for the movie than those of us elsewhere, but this doesn’t seem to have hurt its box office performance in the Middle Kingdom at all. The movie was originally scheduled to end it’s run in theaters this weekend and will now instead remain on cinema screens until July 9. The market for the movie took a bounce back last weekend and this has resulted in the rare 30-day extension.

Avengers: Infinity War Global box office was at $1.974 billion through Tuesday of this week. Although it’s slowing down, as said above the movie is expected on current projections to break the $2 billion barrier by the end of this weekend or early next week.

I guess Thanos has used the Time Stone to indefinitely lock our favorite heroes into the epic battle against the mad Titan, well almost indefinitely.

The one thing you can be assured of is that everyone who made it out to watch Infinity War in theaters is going to be back in their seat when Avengers 4 concludes the story next year. While the recent flop of Solo won’t please Disney, the Marvel brand is looking more like money well spent with every year that passes.

Have all our readers seen Infinity War already and if not, why not? Share your thoughts below in the usual place. The story will conclude with Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019, though those of us in Europe will supposedly be getting it a little earlier on April 26, whoop!
