In a statistic that surprises no one, the trailer for Marvel Studios’ upcoming epic team-up film, Avengers: Infinity War, has just gone on to be the most viewed trailer of all time on YouTube.
This news comes courtesy of ComicBook.com, who noticed that Avengers: Infinity War had passed Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ own view count on the platform. That film — which has gone on to be the third highest grossing film of all time — had its first trailer viewed around 99 million times.

By comparison, Avengers: Infinity War has officially cracked 100 million. Of course, this is just a fraction of the number of views the trailer ultimately had. From Facebook to Twitter and reposts from other YouTube channels, the actual number of views is incalculable. When you have a film that’s as big as this that’s been anticipated for the better part of a decade, you can only expect it’ll break all sorts of records.
So what does this mean for the film itself? Would it be possible for Avengers: Infinity War to actually break Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ box office records next year when the time comes? While that remains unlikely due to the packed summer season, if there was a film that could join the $2 billion club, it’s Avengers: Infinity War.
