Avengers: Secret Wars Writer Is Michael Waldron

The Beyonder will be the main big bad and allow for a Kang recast, plus Spider-Man 4 not to film till 2025 and Fantastic Four in May 24'

The Avengers: Secret Wars writer has been revealed and it’s Michael Waldron. The report comes from Deadline who say the scribe of both Loki and Multiverse of Madness will be the one to create this next huge Marvel event.

Following the success of Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Michael Waldron looks to be in line for another high-profile Marvel property as sources tell Deadline he is set to write Avengers: Secret Wars for Marvel Studios.

Waldron’s stock was high after Loki, which personally was the best Marvel Disney+ show so far. However it would be fair to say it fell a little with a section of the fanbase who didn’t care for Multiverse of Madness. It is worth noting that Waldron and Raimi decided to completely change that script with only 3 months to go. Raimi wanted Wanda as the villain and it was Waldron’s job to change the existing script to make that work.

I’m not saying Waldron should not be judged on both works. I’m simply saying that for now I still think Waldron has talent. I hope so given that Waldron is also penning the script to Kevin Feige’s Star Wars movie. However we have zero idea when that might come to fruition. My guess is that it’ll be a while before we even hear a squeak about Feige’s Star Wars movie. What seems clear and evident is that Fiege trusts Waldron right now.

Whilst involved with Loki S2, Waldron will not serve as head writer this time around. I guess he was a little busy writing MoM, Secret Wars, and Star Wars after all.

Secret Wars will be the Endgame equivalent of the ‘Mutiverse Saga’. As yet we don’t know which, if any of the comic books sharing the name will be used as inspiration. However given that we strongly believe Doctor Doom will make his debut in the post-credit scenes of Wakanda Forever, my guess is that whatever form Secret Wars takes, Doom will be the main antagonist.
