Bad Boys For Life Directors Keen On A Deadpool Or Blade Movie For Marvel

According to the Barside Buzz, there is still a Midnight Sons film in development in the MCU, though we don't even have Blade yet.

Directors keen on a Deadpool or Blade movie for Marvel? Read on for more details.

It was reported some time ago that Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah had met with Marvel to discuss possible future projects. Since then we have not heard much about what projects might interest the director pair. However, maybe we now have a bit of an idea on that front?

Speaking with Discussing Film recently, El Arbi and Fallah talked about which Marvel characters excite them most.

El Arbi: “There’s so much. You know, we love Deadpool.”

Fallah: “We love Deadpool!”

El Arbi: “Definitely. I mean there is more of an edge. If there was a Marvel character in the Bad Boys world…”

Fallah: “It would be Deadpool.”

El Arbi: “Then Blade is cool too!”

It sounds as though, making an R-Rated Marvel movie is high in the list of priorities for El Arbi and Fallah. Though, we are still unsure whether Marvel/Disney will allow the likes of Blade and Deadpool to be R-Rated.

“Well, if you do something like that it’s a high responsibility as well,” El Abri explained, referring to the Blade and Deadpool franchises. “If they say, yeah you’ll do Deadpool. It’s not as if we’re going to just say yeah – we’ll say “Oh sh*t”. But we love these characters. They’re also rated R characters.”

The pair were then asked if making an R-Rated movie was discussed in their meeting with Marvel Studios. The directors were obviously coy with their answer. El Abri explained that whilst R-Rated works for Deadpool movies, it would not work for the likes of Spider-Man.

“There are stories that are PG and correspond to the world that you don’t need to do an R rating if it doesn’t fit.”

Of course, right now, we don’t know whether El Abru and Fallah will be making a Marvel Studios movie. Off the top of my head, I am far more interested in Blade, than I am in the next Deadpool. That’s because, as a fan, I am not overly keen on out and out comedy in my superhero movies.Blade on the other hand, could be quite a tonally dark movie, thus interesting my sensibilities as a fan far more.

Taking Bad Boys For Life as an example, one wonders whether a Deadpool movie would be the more ideal fit for El Abri and Fallah? Bad Boys For Life is R-Rated comedy/action, that’s pretty much how you’d describe a Deadpool movie to me. For now, it seems like the possibility of both Blade and Deadpool are on the table. With the directors keen on a Deadpool or Blade movie for Marvel, which one they will get, if any, remains to be seen?

Have you seen Bad Boys For Life? Do you think El Abri and Fallah would be more suited to Blade, or Deadpool? Leave your thoughts below in the usual place.
