Batgirl Footage Appears Online From Now Scrapped Movie

The infamous Batgirl cancellation was the right call says new DCU boss Peter Safran

Some Batgirl footage has appeared online from the now scrapped movie in the DCEU. Given it’s likely we’ll see no footage from this movie in the future, this may be our only glimpse. Sadly we don’t get to see much, just one BTS shot of a stunt being performed.

Batgirl swoops down and lands on a Christmas tree, in what looks like some kind of mall, or hall? Check it out.

Of course Batgirl has become a rather infamous movie. The movie was scrapped entirely after principal photography was complete. ‘Business reasons’ were all that has ever been given by WB/D for the cancellation. However even directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi were denied access to the footage they shot. The fact we therefore even get to see this much is a surprise.

It’s crazy how DC just seems to be cursed for Warner Bros, and now Discovery. However that’s what happens when you try to copy Marvel quickly and cheaply for too many years, isn’t it? Whenever the company goes solo with Batman, they get a hit, any other DC character gets involved and suddenly no one knows what to do.

Maybe Batgirl wasn’t a good movie (speculation), but to finish it and bang it on HBO wouldn’t have hurt DC’s reputation because it doesn’t have one currently. Instead, WB/D seems about a stable as fusion reaction right now, and there are signs there could be more shake ups to come.

A recent article from Vanity Fair indicates that after all his many troubles Ezra Miller is set to re-shoot scenes for The Flash. One wonders if this scenes will be to replace him with another actor going forward?

What do you think of the video as this Batgirl footage appears online. Do you think we’ll see more from this unfinished movie eventually? Personally I think it would make a great documentary in a decade’s time. Thoughts below as always.
