Batman and Robin is the answer to the question, “What would happen if we took the 1966 Adam West Batman series and injected it with the world’s finest crack and the most potent steroids.” The money that was put into amplifying campiness to levels that shouldn’t be possible amazes me.
Yes, I’m exaggerating ever so slightly. The film was, not good, and made the Batman franchise untouchable for nearly a decade. However, actress Alicia Silverstone, who landed the role of Batgirl in the film, reflects on her role in the film fondly and stated she would even be up to reprise the character. Check out what she had to say below while speaking with Collider.
“I mean, I loved all my scenes with Michael Gough. Michael Gough is a dream and I just love that man so much. So, you know, just being with him was incredible and lovely. I’m trying to think what else I’d be proud of. I mean, I like it when I get to do the fighting scenes with Uma Thurman. That’s fun. But I’d like to do it all over again as this woman! [Laughs] I think it would be much better now.”

I mean considering the tone of the film and the year it was made, Silverstone wasn’t too bad as Batgirl. She was caught in the middle of a glorious mess like most of the cast. A glorious, crowded mess that to put it politely, simply had too much going on to find a general path for the film to follow. The result was a jumbled story starring Batman characters. Something like trying to make sense of a Batman comic book that has been torn to pieces.
