The anticipated Prime Video Being The Recardos is finally on our small screen. We get to see Javier Bardem portrays the Cuban musician Desi Arnaz. While Nicole Kidman brings Lucille Ball and Lucy Ricardo to live in a week’s life span thanks to the filmmaker, Aaron Sorkin.
The Synopsis
Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman, “Moulin Rouge!”) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem, “Skyfall”) are threatened by shocking personal accusations, a political smear, and cultural taboos in Academy Award®-winning writer and director Aaron Sorkin’s (The West Wing, A Few Good Men) behind-the-scenes drama Being the Ricardos. A revealing glimpse of the couple’s complex romantic and professional relationship, the film takes audiences into the writers’ room, onto the soundstage, and behind closed doors with Ball and Arnaz during one critical production week of their groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy. Featuring J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Nina Arianda (Midnight In Paris).

The Critics Choice Association held a virtual press conference earlier this month with some of the talent from Being The Ricardos. With the participation of Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman, J.K. Simons and Nina Arianda we learned about their experience in this exquisite project.

One common statement was the appreciation for Aaron Sorkin’s screenplay. Bardem talked about the relations between Ball and Arnaz and what he focused on to represent him. Kidman spoke about Ball being hands on with the studio when it was not usual in those days.

Simoons discussed not having much footage to learn about William Frawley, who played Fred Mertz in I Love Lucy. Arianda expressed her respect in playing Vivian Vance who we know as Ethel Mertz.
