Life is not paved with gold bricks. It’s just with bizarre incidents and characters in a journey with a surreal story of Big Gold Brick.

From writer and director Brian Petsos, the film stars Emory Cohen, Andy Garcia, Megan Fox, Lucy Hale, and Oscar Isaac in this strange comedy.

Here is the full synopsis:

Big Gold Brick recounts the story of fledgling writer Samuel Liston and his experiences with Floyd Deveraux, the enigmatic middle-aged father of two who enlists Samuel to write his biography. But the circumstances that lead up to this arrangement in the first place are quite astonishing—and efforts to write the biography are quickly stymied by ensuing chaos in this darkly comedic, genre-bending film.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with director and writer Brian Petsos on this surreal comedy.

After graduating from art school, Brian Petsos started writing and making films while in the conservatory at Chicago’s famed SecondCity. Then he relocated to New York to start his company A Saboteur to produce innovative, original, and boundary-pushing films. His work ranged from short-form content on HBO to commercial spots for specific clients. He wrote and directed short film Lightningface, which starred Oscar Isaac and Kristin Wiig that appeared in over 30 film festivals around the world. The film earned a nomination for Best Narrative Comedy at the 2016 Miami Short Film Festival and a nomination for Isaac at the 2017 Vaughan International Film Festival. In 2014, the short film Ticky Tacky premiered at the Palm Springs International ShortFest and later appeared in Florida, Newport Beach, Boston, and Tokyo. That short film even was selected as “Short of the Week” by Vimeo. Big Gold Brick marks Petsos’ directorial feature film debut.
