Birds Of Prey: Mary Elizabeth Winstead Teases A ‘Wild And Totally Unique’ Film

For the past couple of movies, DC has made a solid showing, proving that they have the ability to tell stories that go beyond the “grimdark” approach that Zack Snyder started out the DC Extended Universe with in films like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. It’s taken some time, but it seems like they’ve finally shaken the shackles of those movies, allowing them to tell different types of stories.

This has paved the way for the incredibly weird-looking Birds of Prey, which has had more than its fair share of controversy when it comes to rumored plot details. Now, one of its stars, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, has gone on to emphasize the movie’s weirdness in an interview with Total Film.

“You can expect something really fun and a bit wild and totally unique,” she told the outlet. “Every day we were there, we were doing something that just felt really weird and unlike anything else I’ve seen before in this genre. It was incredibly exciting to get to do that. We really got to work. We just played, and we had fun.”

But does a fun set always mean a fun movie? That remains the eternal question. We know they are reshooting some action scenes with the assistance of John Wick’s Chad Stahelski, but there have been rumblings of more extensive changes to the plot.

I can’t help but worry that Warner Bros. is working to take the weird out of the movie, so hopefully some of that is retained when the final product hits.
