Birds Of Prey Screenwriter On How Involved Margot Robbie Has Been As Producer

Many many moons ago, we learned that we’d be getting a Gotham City Sirens movie. That film seems to have slowly disappeared, but in its place is another Harley Quinn-centric flick that popped up in the form of Birds of Prey, set to be directed by Cathy Yan, written from a script by Bumblebee screenwriter Christina Hodson.

Taking on a producer role in this film is none other than one of its stars, Margot Robbie, who is reprising her role as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. But exactly how involved is she in its making? In Hollywood, the title of producer is one that gets thrown around a lot and it seems to mean something completely different for every single film. For all we know, Robbie could just be a producer in name that helps attract talent and actors, but according to Hodson, that isn’t the case, as she revealed to The Los Angeles Times.

“This, I can say: [Robbie] is an amazing producer. She’s so dedicated, cares so much, she is in it and works so hard — looks through every choice, reads through every draft, and has super-smart notes. I am all about finding good people you believe in as human beings as well as being good creative partners and producers, because it’s an investment — writing these movies takes it out of you.”

In short, if you’re looking to get an incredibly involved and collaborative person to act as producer, it sounds like you could do much worse than Robbie. Are you looking forward to Birds of Prey? Let us know your thoughts down below!

Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7, 2020!
