Marvel’s Black Panther is now the highest superhero film of all-time domestically, with $624 million, narrowly passing up 2012’s The Avengers. The film has been clawed its way to the top ever since opening up in mid-February. An excellent installment into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film has passed over a billion dollars worldwide. No matter the genre, breaking a billion dollars globally is quite the impressive feat, and makes a sequel to the film inevitable.

While the film is great, as well as a cultural achievement, Black Panther’s spot at the top of the superhero genre isn’t likely to last long, as Avengers: Infinity War is right around the corner, and is set to smash the box-office to pieces once it arrives. As for now though, Wakandans can rejoice in the fact that Black Panther reigns supreme.
The film stars Chadwick Boseman as the title character, along with, Michael B. Jordan as the villain Killmonger. As well as Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, and veteran actress Angela Bassett. Andy Serkis also appears in the film in a rare role in which he doesn’t have to wear a motion capture suit. The film was directed by Ryan Coolger and co-written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole.
