Black Widow Movie Shoots In June

If there’s one Avenger out there who’s deserved a standalone film from the get-go and has been deprived of one for the longest, it’s Black Widow. The character had an interesting implied backstory ever since we first saw her in Iron Man 2, and that only got audiences more intrigued with movies like The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now, several years after her introduction, she’s finally getting a movie of her own.

We already know that actress Scarlett Johansson will be returning to play the role of Natasha Romanoff, and that actors like Florence Pugh and (perhaps) even Rachel Weisz at least being in discussions to join. Another name that was being floated around was the great David Harbour, who’s been around forever but only recently hit it big with Stranger Things. Speaking with Den of Geek, the actor spilled the beans on when they plan on shooting.

“I think it’s slated to start in June,” he said. “I don’t think they have it fully-boarded yet, but it’s a great character. I’m really excited about it. The cast is fleshing out (with) Scarlett and Florence Pugh, I think they said. I know they were talking about Rachel Weisz. There’s some really great actresses.”

Of course, we want to know what the story is about. One report from an outlet has stated it’s an origin film, while another says it’s still a big secret, and Harbour himself wasn’t really able to say anything one way or another.

“I can’t really say anything about the story. It’s very interesting. It’s very surprising. When they pitched it to me, I was very surprised, but I will say, the thing that really takes it over the edge for me is this director, Cate Shortland, who made this movie Lore. It came out back in 2012, or something. She is a phenomenally sophisticated film maker, really brilliant, really passionate and just a beautiful human being.

“When I sat down and talked with her about this thing, we talked for hours about all kinds of stuff and she’s just a deep human being. I’m really excited to work with all of these women and I think it could be a really, really good movie.”

So, what is it? Well, luckily it doesn’t seem like we’ll have long to wait, as it will likely hit theaters in 2020. Are you excited to hear about its impending production? Let us know down below!
