Blade Casting And Ratings Rumors Weekend Roundup | Barside Buzz

Blade casting and ratings rumors that have dropped this weekend.

You may have already heard that Blade is one of the movies that has been delayed due to the WGA strike. However, that’s not stopped a ton of Blade casting and ratings rumors that have dropped this weekend. They all come from the same source, however that sources is usually very accurate with casting decisions. Daniel RPK has made several claims on his Patreon this weekend so let’s get through them all.

R Rated

According to the source, Blade will be rated R, making it the first MCU film to go beyond the PG-13 territory. Well, unless Deadpool 3 gets there first I suppose?

Thing is, I’m not completely sold that Blade should be R rated. I get Deadpool, but I think horror/supernatural action with Vampires can be done on PG-13 just as effectively. However that’s me thinking about the usual Marvel formula and one can perhaps hope the age restrictions will allow the team to deliver more of an adult drama along with the violence swearing and sex that are now allowed. I’d rather the movie had mature themes than jump scares, gore and boobs is what I’m saying folks.

Casting

First up we are told that Saul Williams has been cast as Jamal Afari in Blade. In the comics it was Afari who discovers Blade and raises him and teaches him. One may assume that Afari will be seen in flashbacks or times from Blade’s youth.

A recast was also mentioned by the same source. According to Daniel RPK, Aaron Pierre was playing a powerful vampire villain in the earlier version of the script. He says that role has now been filed by Mia Goth’s Lilith and ergo, it would mean Pierre is no longer in the picture.

Last, but perhaps the biggest piece of casting news is that Delroy Lindo will play Deacon Frost. I’m sure if you watched the original Blade with Wesley Snipes you’ve heard of Deacon Frost, the vampire who turned Blade’s mother whilst she was pregnant with him. Lindo is always great, so this should be interesting. We already knew Lindo was cast in the movie, just not the role. Now we do!

That’s all for your Blade casting and ratings rumors weekend roundup folks. As always ,let us know what you think of how Blade is shaping up in the usual spot below.
