Bloodsport Project In Development Debunked By James Gunn

Bloodsport Project In Development Debunked By James Gunn

Yesterday, a report from The Cosmic Circus claimed there was a Bloodsport project in development. However, this report was debunked by James Gunn. The idea here is simple, Lizzie Hill who has a great track record heard that a Bloodsport project was in development but unsure whether it was a movie or a streaming show. The information does seem very early days, nothing set in stone. It was therefore a surprise when the story was debunked by James Gunn soon after.

Here is what Gunn had to say.

Now normally I’d just chalk this up to0 bad information. However Hill has doubled down and said this source has always been solid for her. She even ponders whether this could be early enough stages that Gunn isn’t fully up to speed. However I get the feeling that Gun is the rising star of DC and would know what plans there are for a character he helped to carve out from the comics. Here is Lizzie Hill’s response.

While it is entirely possible I’ve gotten ahold of incorrect information, I also have a lot of faith and trust in, and a long history of accurate past information from the main source here. In short, I don’t believe anyone here is lying, and there may be things in motion that even Mr. Gunn is unaware of. And yes, I know, I have no doubt he knows much more than me about what’s in development and probably most things. However, I (very respectfully) stand by my reporting here.

There is another alternative actually, and one some fans don’t seem to have picked up on. James Gunn will tread the line on lying if he thinks it will help avoid spoilers, fact. A recent set of leaks for The Suicide Squad saw Gunn claim them false online. But, you know, I’ve seen the movie and they were bang on apart from one or two small details. Death’s, key moments, were all present and Gunn claimed it was false. All I’m therefore saying is that whilst we have to take Gunn’s word that nothing is currently in development, it would not surprise me to find out that early discussions have taken place. This could be a case of Gunn’s definition of currently in development being different from our own?

Or, someone got their wires crossed badly on this one, it happens. I guess we will just have to watch this space for now? However, I think DC/WB would be crazy not to get Elba back in for a fun project. Though, with Gunn’s currently busy schedule, It would be some time before he would be able to get involved.

What do you think of the idea of a Bloodsport project whether it’s real or not? Any thoughts, leave them below.
