According to the latest Barside Buzz, both Blade and Deadpool 3 are set to begin filming May 1st this year. The information comes from Production List who have both upcoming Marvel movies set for a May 1st start. Whilst Deadpool 3 seems to have moved along without too many complications, the story is different with Blade.
Mahershala Ali was announced as playing Blade ages ago and most fans expected that movie to be out by now. However far as we hear on the buzz, there was some serious script issues. We also know that director Bassam Tariq left the project and was replaced by Yann Demange. From there we had no real clue on timeline. However if this report is true, the movie finally gets underway soon.
As for Deadpool 3 (name may change) we already know the main gist, Deadpool and Wolverine. From what we know the pair both end up in the TVA and some Multiverse shenanigans happen. Presumably Deadpool ends up in the MCU at the end of all this, but that’s not certain. It is however doubtful Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine. Though, you never know, there could be one more appearance for Secret Wars if some if some rumors are true?
For now I look forward to Deadpool 3 as someone who is not the biggest Deadpool fan. I am a Wolverine fan though, so my interest is piqued. I’m not yet sure whether my interest is there for Blade or not? I was never much of a horror comic fan, and despite Blade being involved with the more regular heroes, the character was never my favorite back in the comic book days. I equally did not think much of the Wesley Snipes movies outside the first one which was, okay.

We have made one small step into the supernatural world of Marvel so far in Werewolf by Night. Presumably Blade will be the film that takes that one step further. Also, (who knows,) we may finally get to see Kit Harrington become Black Knight after that was set up what feels like years ago. However those delays, I don’t know. Maybe the perfect time for Blade was during Marvel’s Phase 4 of ‘expand the roster’. Whereas now, we seem to be focusing on the journey towards The Kang Dynasty. I could be wrong of course, and ultimately it all comes down to how good the Blade movie is.
