BoxLunch Holiday Gala 2023 Highlights and Carpet Interviews

Celebrities and content creators descended into Hollywood for the BoxLunch Holiday Gala 2023 to raise funds and awareness for Feeding America.

The event took place at the Academy LA with some of the most notable names in showbusiness that included David Harbour, Simu Liu, Teyonah Parris, Erin Moriarty, Anika Noni Rose, David Dastmalchian, Xochitl Gomez, Val Chmerkovskiy, Emma Caulfield Ford, Seth Green, Emily Swallow, Daniel Logan, Adam Shankman, and scores of influencers, community leaders, and content creators.

The dinner gala opening performance opened with singer and actress Anika Noni Rose. Joel Mchale was the evening host as he made a comedy tribute to outgoing BoxLunch Ambassador Simu Liu by jokingly that he ran over the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor.

Some of the highlights included donations to local Feeding America food banks.

Mchale introduced Erika Duran, a mother of three who used Feeding San Diego to feed her family. Feeding San Diego was awarded with $25,000.

Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy presented the “Community Commitment” award to Sari Vatske, CEO of the Central Texas Food Book and a check for $25,000.

Erin Moriarty (The Boys) and David Dastmachian (Oppenheimer) presented the “Community Impact” award to Allyson Vaulx, assistant vice president of philanthropy of Feeding South Florida and $25,000.

Teyonah Parris (The Marvels_ handed the “Community Outreach” award to Cassidie Bates, government & public affairs manager from the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solana and also with $25,000.

And with BoxLunch donated $100,000 to Feeding America with chief marketing officer and digital experience officer Jennifer Polk at the end of the night. In a surprise twist, the new BoxLunch Ambassador David Harbour (Stranger Things) doubled that donation to $200,000 to the crowd’s delight.

Magician Kevin Li entertained the crowd with an astounding magical act and Anika Noni Rose returned to the stage to close out with a soulful rendition of “Grown Up Christmas List.”

For every $10 spent in-store or online, BoxLunch provides a meal to a person in need nationwide. In 2023, BoxLunch celebrated an important milestone of 175 million meals donated to Feeding America.
