Boyega Open To Star Wars Return On Certain Conditions

John Boyega open to Star Wars return, but only under certain conditions! I’m betting one of those conditions is a truck full of money, but I digress. Boyega has been fairly open about certain criticisms he had of the way his character was treated in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Whilst never directly saying so, it seems that Boyega’s main beef was with Rian Johnson and how he handled the character of Finn. I’m not quite sure I follow that logic, but we will get to that in a bit.

For now Boyega is seen below in an older but recently resurfaced video claiming he would be open to return. However Boyega has some conditions for that return.

“Whichever way, I am open to the conversation as long as it is Kathleen, J.J., and maybe someone else and the team, it’s a no-brainer.”

Well Kennedy’s involvement is kind of a moot point given she is still Lucasfilm president and likely will be for some time.

As much as enjoy Boyega as an actor, if his condition for returning is that J.J Abrams also return, then sorry John. It was nice to have you in Star Wars and all, but I don’t want Abrams near anything Star Wars again. What I don’t really get is why Boyega loves Abrams so much, but doesn’t seem happy with Johnson? After all, it was not Johnson who gave Finn and entire movie where he just shouted “Rey”, loudly, a lot. Abrams may have shoehorned in the Jedi plot for Finn, but it was so late in the day it did not have time to actually go anywhere. Other than the Force thing, Finn really does just shout “Rey!”, a lot, in Abrams movies.

Not that I’m trying to defend Rian Johnson here. Everything with Tran and Boyega on Canto Bight and Crait was hot garbage. Ultimately I would not be too bothered if I never see Rey, Finn or Poe again on screen. The only character I really liked in the sequel trilogy was Ben Solo and he has bought the farm. Saying all that, with better writers, I’d always be willing to see what happened to those characters in the future. I just don’t see that being priority number one for Lucasfilm right now. Boyega’s character was definitely a victim of bad writing though. I genuinely think the character had potential because Boyega is better than what he was given.

And please, no more Abrams, ever again. So John Boyega open to Star Wars return, would you open to it? Would anyone be excited by J.J. Abrams coming back to Star Wars after delivering one of the worst Star Wars movies ever made? Thoughts below.
