Brandon Sanderson names the new Stormlight Archive novella…Dawnshard.

Dawnshard follows the story of Rysn, the Thaylen merchant whom we’ve seen before in the interludes of the first three books of the Stormlight Archive series. Just like how Edgedancer took place between Words of Radiance and Oathbringer, this one will take place between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War. That being said, I have no idea if she’ll have much of a role in Rhythm of War, which will launch before this novella. There will be more news this Thursdays during the livestream. So expect more info then.

Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing what Rysn is up to. I found Edgedancer to be quite a fun read. Whenever you can get a Brandon Sanderson experience condensed into under 50,000 words, it’s usually worth it. The novella is available to get in ebook and hardcover forms under the different Kickstarter tiers for The Way of Kings (which is still underway). And once the book is released, I expect it’ll also be available in stores.

But that wasn’t the only update offered to the Way of Kings leatherbound edition Kickstarter backers. They also showed off a photo of the pages for the edition down below.

While we have seen the gold pages in mockup form, this may be our first look at them in actual physical form. Everything seems good for the campaign as production begins to really ramping up.  We should be getting more updates in the near future.  Stormlight fans have a lot to be excited for.

And just in case you haven’t heard yet, in addition to the Kickstarter and Stormlight Archive novella, we can’t forget Rhythm of War itself. Brandon Sanderson recently revealed that his final draft was concluded in the fourth Stormlight Archive novel. This marks the penultimate volume of this five-volume arc.
