According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Mangold (Logan) will be writing and directing an anthology film starring none other than Boba Fett. The fabled bounty hunter was one of fans top choices to get his own film, and now it looks like the man who gave us the brilliant and beautiful Wolverine send off in Logan, will now tell the story of everyone’s favorite bounty hunter (or most people’s favorite bounty hunter). No production start date or set release date was given.

I think Mangold is a great choice, and this lends credence to the rumor that Simon Kinberg has been working on a Boba Fett script as the two have worked on films together in the past. However, there is no official word on Kinberg being involved. As most of you already know an anthology film about Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is also said to be in development at Lucasfilm with Stephen Daldry in talks to direct the film.

Boba Fett first appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special (If you’ve never seen it, please watch it for as long as you can). The character made his true mark on the Star Wars fandom in The Empire Strikes Back and has been a fan favorite ever since.
