Broken Lizard On Beerfest 2 And Super Troopers 3

With the sequel to Broken Lizard’s cult classic Super Troopers two weeks away, in the aptly named Super Troopers 2, talk of another potential sequel from the comedy troupe has surfaced. Jay Chandrasekhar, who directed the original Beerfest (the guy has also directed an episode of almost every TV series ever) recently spoke at a Q&A session and said the first stages of the sequel are in the works:

“We have a story for it.”

In 2016, fellow Broken Lizard member, Steve Lemme, spoke with inverse about the possibility of a third Supertroopers film and a Beerfest sequel:

“So yeah. It’s something we’re talking about. We want to do it. There’s a couple of other movies we want to do. We want to do Super Troopers 3. We’ll see what happens, but right now, we’re focused so much on Super Troopers 2.”

While Supertroopers is what Broken Lizard is most well known for, Beerfest is probably my favorite film of theirs, though Slammin’ Salmon is also a lot of fun. With Beerfest, Broken Lizard brought to their unique comedy stylings competition as well as myth and lore, which I love to see in movies. Beerfest ended with a hint that the group would make a spin-off called, ‘Potfest”, both a sequel and a spin-off seem like they are viable options for the humor of the comedy troupe and I would be on board for watching both.

Super Troopers 2 hits theaters April, 20.
