Developer Bungie is hiring a Destiny historian to keep lore continuity in Destiny 2. I have to say, being a Destiny player from early in the first game I never thought we’d get to here. I fell in love with Destiny despite the story and lore being all over the place. However, times have changed.

The most recent periods in Destiny 2 have had some really great storylines. Bungie has started to flesh out the lore and brought many of its aspects into the game. Whereas before you had to read it all, or watch YouTube videos. So now they need someone to keep it all together and maintain some continuity. Check it out.

There are a few more requirements here than just being a fan of Destiny however. Strong project management, proficiency in editing prose, and planning and organizing. The position will also require maintaining good relationships with creators and vendors, experience with the editing and production process on books etc.

Wait, I have most of those skills! However I don’t have them all, and frankly I’m honestly not that knowledgeable about the lore. Destiny‘s most famous fan lore master is My name is Byf. He has already ruled out applying for the post because he also does not have all the relevant skills required and the job is based in the U.S. whilst Byf lives in the U.K. Dammit, that’s another reason I couldn’t do it.

I love the fact Bungie are really trying to improve on Destiny continually because they have had some tough times. The launch of Destiny 2 was awful, for a year or more the game was nothing like Destiny was. Is there still issues with the game, yes, but things are much better now. I do wonder whether this is also another hint that the Destiny franchise will not be finished after Destiny 2. Destiny 2 has another two full years after the end of this year, then it is done.

However despite no Destiny 3 being announced and hints that Bungie are working in a new IP, they have also teased Destiny 2 won’t be the end.
