Caleb Landry Jones And Jojo T. Gibbs Discuss Creating Empathy In DogMan | EXCLUSIVE

DogMan is a film about pain and the unconditional love that is found in canines. The filmmaker, Luc Besson brings us Caleb Landry Jones as “Douglas”, the DogMan who after all the stumbles in life as an adult has led him to his own version of what dignity is. With Jojo T. Gibbs as “Evelyn” we learn about the empathy for this troubled man that is just hanging on to what he finds to be his safe space.

On the contrary of Caleb Landry Jones, Jojo T. Gibbs was originally seeking a career in journalism. However after graduating from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill she seeked other jobs after a negative experience that discouraged journalism. Opening the opportunity to act in student films at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Gibbs is now known for Showtimes Twenties, Hulu’s Fresh and last year’s Past Lives. Among her upcoming projects are Dirty Angels and Jodie. Don’t be surprised to see her on stage performing stand-up comedy as she has opened for Dave Chappelle at The Comedy Store and on several other stages in the Los Angeles area.

I had the opportunity to speak to Caleb Landry Jones and Jojo T. Gibbs during the press day for DogMan. Landry shared what it was like to embody a French icon Édith Piaf as he can’t grasp French himself. Both Jones and Gibbs discussed the scenes together in a big portion of the film, the interrogation room where empathy for the DogMan’s character is created and more!
