Candy Cane Lane | Aaron Osborne on Massive Christmas Production Design

Candy Cane Lane production designer Aaron Osborne has one of the best jobs in the Hollywood industry.

The veteran production designer helped create the imaginative and complex decorations and sets in this ambitious Christmas-themed film that sparks joy on many levels.

The film stars Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome, and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Reginald Hudlin directed the film from the screenplay written by Kelly Younger.

Here is the official synopsis:

Eddie Murphy stars in this holiday comedy adventure about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Eddie Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta talked with production designer Aaron Osborn about the elaborate designs and builds to make it a perfect Christmas movie.

Aaron Osborne is a production designer and set decorator on many notable projects, including Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Keanu, and Love, Simon. This year, he worked on the films The Machine, Strays, and the series City on Fire. Other notable projects included Sex Drive, The Losers, Grown Ups 2, Constantine, Dumb and Dumber To, and The DUFF.

Candy Cane Lane streams globally on Prime Video starting December 1st.
