If there’s a director capable of assembling a rogues’ gallery of classic talent to battle the living dead, it’s auteur Jim Jarmusch. The guy is after all responsible for assembling an awesome group of talented actors all connected via vignettes that all had coffee and cigarettes in common. Cheers to Bill Murray battling zombies.
Jarmusch’s upcoming film, The Dead Don’t Die will premiere in all its rotten glory at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. With that being only a few days away on May 14, festival goers will get first dibs on what might just be a gut-busting macabre treat. The synopsis is as follows – Small-town cops and ordinary citizens face an onslaught from flesh-eating zombies.
You may recall a certain April 1st trailer for The Dead Don’t Die in which we got the awesome reveal of Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Adam Driver who Sherlocked Holmes the hell out of a mangled crime scene taking a leap of faith and declaring it was zombies. With a cast like this, the undead are in for a treat. In addition to Driver and Murray, the cast also includes Spring Breakers Selena Gomez, Armageddon’s Steve Buscemi, Lethal Weapon’s Danny Glover, Birds of Prey’s Rosie Perez, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs Tom Waits, Get Out’s Caleb Landry Jones, and The Man with the Iron Fists RZA.
The Dead Don’t Die will hit theaters in time to kick off the summer June 14, 2019.
