According to the Barside Buzz Captain America: Brave New World is getting major reshoots with one claim saying the Serpent Society have been dropped. The information here is all rumors an comes from several different sources. Though as always, we only share the rumors from those with the best hit rates as we have here. The first, and perhaps most important piece of information comes from Daniel RPK on Patreon. We knew the movie was getting reshoots this year and some retooling before release. However, according to RPK the reshoot schedule is from May till August.
That’s enough time to shoot a movie from start to end folks. Reshoots happen on almost all Marvel movies, but never three/four Month shoots. This isn’t all that much of a surprise though. Marvel were reportedly less than satisfied with what they saw of Brave New World and some new writing talent was enlisted.
As my colleague Kyle Malone pointed out yesterday, this puts extra pressure on Brave New World to perform at the box office. If the budget for the movie was around $150M, you could conceivably conclude that could be doubled with such an extensive reshoot. Still, I’d rather they get it right here and make a good movie, as the box office will these days depend on good word of mouth from fans.
The Serpent Society
We know from set photos that the Serpent Society were making their MCU debut in Cap 4. However, one insider says the group have now been dropped from the movie, hence the extensive reshoots. It was reported by other insiders that Serpent Society were not the main villains. Instead they were rumored to be a group for Sam to take down early in the movie.
CWGST reported on their subscription service that the Serpent Society had been removed from the movie. Their scenes were reportedly the first action sequence where Sam, Falcon and Isiah Bradley went to take them out. However, they do say it’s possible that Rosa Salazar’s Diamondback might survive into the new version of the film.
However, Alex P of TCC said on the outlets Discord server that he doubts Serpent Society are cut completely. Though, he did confirm the idea that they were an opening mission villain rather than the meat of the plot.
