Milly Alcock IS Supergirl In Woman Of Tomorrow And Possibly Superman: Legacy

After making it to the final two candidates, reports are that Milly Alcock IS now Supergirl in Woman of Tomorrow and possibly Superman: Legacy. Last week we shared the story that Alcock and Meg Donnelly were the final two candidates for the role. Now Deadline reports that Alcock, who appeared recently in House of the Dragon, has won the coveted DCU role.

As reported by the trade;

House of the Dragon actress Milly Alcock has landed the coveted role of Supergirl in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe.’

Alcock’s role was pretty big in House of the Dragon, one could argue the lead. However, she did only play Rhaenyra Targaryen a little until Emma D’Arcy took over after a time jump. I think we can therefore say with some certainty that this is the biggest role the Australian born actress has won.

As per the title we are changing Supergirl’s inclusion in Superman: Legacy to a possible. When the reports came in previously of Alcock being in the final two it was reported the character was in Legacy. Casting was happening now so the character could make her debut in Superman: Legacy. I guess that did make sense given there is currently no director attached to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Ergo, why cast now for a role that won’t appear till later? However Deadline says, whilst it is possible they cannot be certain Alcock’s debut is in Legacy. However, they are adamant she will show up in another project before filming begins on Woman of Tomorrow. That’s likely why she has been cast now, and why I still think Legacy is the more likely option. Here is what Deadline had to say.

‘There’s been buzz that the new Supergirl will appear in Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, which is about to go before the cameras in Georgia, but that’s not 100%. What we know now is that she’ll appear in a DC-based project before starring in her solo feature, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. No director has been announced for Supergirl, the project first announced at DC’s studio press day a year ago. It’s based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series, on which Bilquis Evely was the illustrator.’
