Forget set photos or leaked documents for the film. Nine times out of 10 it seems like the biggest leaks come in the form of toy leaks. After all, those dudes have to know some top-secret stuff in order to get their toy lines in order for the film’s release, right? Of course, this inevitably leads to some pretty big details being spoiled for fan.
In this case, we’re talking about the character played by Jude Law in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Captain Marvel. Going into it, it was reported that he would be playing the role of Mar-Vell in the film, and given that he looked to be playing a mentor role, it seemed like a solid assumption. Though, given that his name wasn’t ever officially revealed, it seemed like this assumption may have been in error. But was it really?
If you don’t want to be spoiled, then look away.
Some toy leaks from the folks over at Funko Pops that were posted on Reddit seem to confirm that law will not be playing Mar-Vell, but instead will be playing Kree officer Yon-Rogg. Interestingly enough, this is a villain character in the source material, so it’s very possible we could see Law as the main villain. Then again, it’s also possible that he’ll be good in this film and bad in the next (not unlike Mordo in Doctor Strange). Of course, it’s also possible that Marvel will do their own thing with the character altogether.
