Cary Elwes & Jake Busey Join Stranger Things 3!

Stranger Things 3 has just signed on a couple more actors, one of which certainly follows their trend of paying homages to decades gone by. The first actor is Cary Elwes, who is known for his work on The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights (among countless others). While Elwes is known for a lot of ’90s films, there is no denying that The Princess Bride also has a very specific place in ’80s culture.

The other actor they are set to bring on in the new season is Jake Busey. The actor has starred in such films as The Frighteners, Contact, and Starship Troopers. More recently, he’s also been in seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and From Dusk Till Dawn The Series. Despite the fact that he’s perhaps best known for his relation to his father, Gary Busey, Jake Busey has also made a name for himself in Hollywood.

So who will they be playing? Luckily, Netflix included a description of their characters. Elwes will be playing Mayor Kline, who is described as, “Handsome, slick, and sleazy, Mayor Kline is your classic 80s politician — more concerned with his own image than with the people of the small town he governs.”

Busey’s character’s name is Bruce, and while he is also a bit of a sleazebag, it’s a very different type of sleaziness than Mayor Kline. Bruce is described as “a journalist for The Hawkins Post with questionable morals and a sick sense of humor.”
