CBS Release New Character Posters For Star Trek: Discovery Ahead Of Season 2 Debut

Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 will debut on CBS domestically and Netflix Internationally on January 17th. To promote the upcoming second season CBS has issued some new character posters for Season 2, which were posted on IGN.

The first poster features new captain Christopher Pike who of course is the current captain of the Enterprise prior to James Kirk taking over. As we saw at the end of Discovery‘s first season they meet up with the Enterprise and we already know from the trailer that Pike takes temporary captaincy of the Discovery for a mission. Who knows what season 2 has in store for Phillipa Georgiou, her doppelganger was, of course, the former captain of Michael Burnham, but this Georgiou is, of course, quite an evil version from the mirror universe, trying to adapt to a different way of life.

Tilly and Saru make up the second poster. They might not be the leads of Star Trek: Discovery, but the pair play an important role in this ensemble cast. Both are extremely popular characters with fans of Season 1.

The third poster, which consists of Culber and Stamets is interesting. This may well the most surprising poster given that these lovers from Season 1 have a slight problem in Season 2, that being that Culber died in Season 1. However, Stamets who basically is the navigator and engine of Discovery seems to be able to see his former partner as time and space is being jumbled up in his head. Will Stamets condition worsen in Season 2?

The final poster features the lead Michael Burnham and her adoptive brother Spock, who makes his first appearance as a character from this timeline in Discovery Season 2. Whilst we don’t know exactly what the plot of Season 2 is, we do know that Spock plays a key part in the story being told.

I am looking forward to Discovery starting up again, I really enjoyed Season 1 a lot more than I have anything else Star Trek related since JJ Abrams reboot of the movies. My only criticism of Season 1 was some of the design choices, specifically the Klingons and that I find the mirror universe a little cheesy. So I am hoping they stay away from that storyline as much as possible in Season 2.
