Marvel and Netflix have been putting out pretty solid work on the whole. Say what you will about some of their weaker seasons, but a lot of it was still a whole lot better than stuff we’ve gotten in the past from plenty of other networks. Of course, Daredevil continues to be the big standout, but spun off from that was none other than The Punisher.
Netflix seems to be winding down this pocket universe, with cancellations coming left and right, but The Punisher is still getting its second season. Earlier reports had it pegged to hit on January 18, and in a new video posted to their official Twitter account, Marvel showed off a little teaser trailer. Check it out below:

Personally, I kinda don’t know what to think of this one. On the plus side, it’s very clear this film will be continuing its violent streak, and character Billy Russo is clearly on his way to becoming the Jigsaw villain characters know from the comics. Seeing these two head toward their inevitable collision is pretty awesome.
On the negative side, this thing looks cheap and cheesy. Literally, they just shot this thing in a warehouse and circled the characters. The way they edit it together just feels very network TV to me (it certainly doesn’t help that I associate warehouses with network TV shows), and I much prefer getting a more traditional trailer, which I’m sure is coming very soon.
Of course, here’s the big question: if the show is hitting on January 18, does that mean we can expect a cancellation announcement at the beginning of February or sooner? We’ll have to wait and see if Marvel and Netflix continue this trend.
