New Star Trek: Prodigy animated series.
It looks like the Star Trek franchise is starting to kick it into high gear over at CBS. Recently we had seen the trailer for their upcoming animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks that will debut this August. Today via their Star Trek Universe panel at Comic-Con@Home Nickelodeon and CBS Television revealed another new Star Trek series.

In 2021 we will set off on yet another Star Trek adventure in the CG-animated series, Star Trek: Prodigy. This series will follow a group of “lawless” teenagers that find a derelict Starfleet ship. They use this ship to find their adventure, meaning, and salvation. This series will debut exclusively on Nickelodeon next year and hopes to inspire a new generation of fans. Star Trek: Prodigy is developed by Emmy Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman. It’s overseen for Nickelodeon by Ramsey Naito, EVP, Animation Production and Development, and Nickelodeon. It will be from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Television Studios’ new animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers. Alongside Kevin and Dan Hageman. Aaron Baiers will serve as a co-executive producer.

I am excited to see that Star Trek has been getting some more attention from CBS. It seemed like it had just been more of a nostalgic series for a while. Although I am not a big fan of CG-animation, it seems like a very interesting concept. We will continue to provide more details as they are revealed! Keep checking in for more Comic-Con@Home news!
