CDPR Discuss Release Strategy For New Witcher Trilogy Of Games + More

CDPR reveal their release strategy for their new The Witcher trilogy of games, plus a new separate Witcher game and more Cyberpunk 2077.

CDPR are creating a new Witcher trilogy of games. For now we can only refer to them as The Witcher 4-6. Alongside these AAA RPG’s CDPR also have another studio making separate games from within the Witcher franchise. In addition to all this CDPR are also working on a new Cyberpunk 2077 game codenamed Orion. Check out some of the details below.

In terms of the main attraction, the new Witcher trilogy, CDPR says they plan to release The Witcher 4, The Witcher 5, and The Witcher 6 within a six-year span of one another. This may seem like a tall order, however it is clear that the dev feels that once they have the engine and assets to make The Witcher 4, that will make developing the sequels using the same technology easier. Currently we have zero idea of a release window for The Witcher 4. However If for example that sequel released late 2024, then the plan is to have The Witcher 6 ready by late 2030.

One potential issue I could see if the exponential growth of computing technology. In other words if CDPR creates a state of the art engine for The Witcher 4, it could be outdated by the time they develop The Witcher 6?

As for Cyberpunk 2077, we all know how poor the launch version of that game was, and far as I have hear it still doesn’t work on old gen consoles well. However it has gained some popularity now that several fixes have been deployed. Orion sounds like a brand new game set in that familiar world. If the devs can abandon old gen and get this one working from release, who knows?

That’s a lot of content coming over the next few years from CDPR. After the debacle that was the launch of Cyberpunk, I am sure CDPR will be looking to get back their reputation as one of the most reliable game developers around.

What do you think as CDPR reveal their release strategy for their new The Witcher trilogy of games plus more? Leave any thoughts below.
