Lionsgate has released the latest trailer for the upcoming Jay Roach film Bombshell. Click the link above to see Charlize Theron and her spot-on embodiment of news commentator Megyn Kelly.

Directed by Roach (Austin Powers, Meet The Parents) and written by Charles Randolph (Oscar-winning co-writer of The Big Short), Bombshell focuses on the lawsuit former Fox News commentator Gretchen Carlson (played by Nicole Kidman) filed against Fox News head Roger Ailes (played by John Lithgow). The film also works in the disparaging remarks then-candidate Donald Trump made toward Kelly after he was unhappy with the debate questions and alleged stern tone she took with him. In the middle is Kayla (played by Margot Robbie), the newcomer who is trying to impress Ailes by remaining loyal to the network.
Kidman, Robbie, and Lithgow offer their talented expertise in their performances, but it’s Theron who steals the show by becoming Kelly—right down to her voice and the slight head tilts. It’s undeniable this film’s cast went through vigorous research in nailing every bit of the real-life people they are portraying, and Theron’s is bound to be a standout performance.
As someone who over a decade ago was a frequent Fox News viewer—a time referred to as my Winter Soldier days—this writer is excited to see this depiction of what occurred behind the scenes in the recent years of the conservative-leaning news network. This writer is also curious to see how much of a defense the network will mount leading up to the film’s release.
Bombshell is slated to be released in theaters December 20th—just in time for the Oscar race.
