The comedians Fortune Feimster and Dulcé Sloan are key characters in the new chick flick, Chick Fight. Their humor and ongoing charisma maintains the humor throughout the new film.
Chick Fight follows Anna (Malin Akerman) as she navigates a particularly challenging juncture in her life. She still hasn’t reconciled with the recent death of her adored mother when she discovered that her loving and supportive father is gay. Who she totally supports, but the deception cuts deep. Knowing Anna needs to be abruptly shaken and stirred from her deep funk, her best friend Charleen (Dulcé Sloan) takes Anna to an all women underground fight club. It’s here that Anna encounters an eclectic cast of characters. Including the intimidatingly perfect and most brutally efficient fighter of the club, Olivia (Bella Thorne), a rival in and out of the ring. With the help of an eccentric and reclusive trainer Jack Murphy (Alec Baldwin), Anna slowly rediscovers herself, her inner strength and true purpose in the most primal of ways.
Fortune Feimster is recognized for being a stand-up comedian, writer and actor. Most remember her from the Chelsea Lately show as a performer, but was also a writer. In January she was seen in Netflix Fortune Feimster: Sweet & Salty. Currently she is hosting Netflix Radio’s ‘What A Joke With Papa and Fortune” on Sirius XM. Recently she sold two features to Amblin; Bad Cop, Bad Cop and Field Trip in which she will star.
Dulcé Sloan is also a comedian, actress and writer. Sloan has received recognition in magazines like the Rolling Stones and festivals like, The Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. She is a former correspondent for the Comedy Central’s Daily Show. This year she began her podcast, The Black Ass Show on Starburns Audio. In addition, she was recently joined the cast of the upcoming animated Fox series, The Great North.
I had a fun time speaking with Fortune Feimster and Dulcé Sloan about Fight Chick. They discussed a little about their characters and why they wanted to be part of the film. Also, if they would consider being a part of a film that required physical training again. I could not leave out congratulating the newly wed.
Chick Fight is available in theaters, digital and on-demand.
