Kick-Ass was one of those surprising movies that made a fan out of many skeptical moviegoers. You could count me as one of the many folks who hadn’t read the comic and wasn’t too interested based on the trailers. However, after watching the film, I became a believer in the concept and was interested about what other bloody adventures these characters could go on. So excited was I that the sequel, Kick-Ass 2, was doubly disappointing.
It turns out that audiences weren’t the only ones who were disappointed by the film. In a recent interview with IndieWire, actress Chloe Grace Moretz, who plays Hit-Girl in both movies, expressed her own disappointment with the movie, saying:
“I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special. I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all.”
So does this mean Moretz won’t play Hit-Girl again?
“As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there. I kinda wanna keep everyone’s mind in Kick-Ass. So I don’t think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don’t think with Hit-Girl in it.”
Are you sad that Moretz won’t be returning to play the character again? With Matthew Vaughn looking to reboot the franchise, is it probably best that the original talent not remain involved? Let us know your thoughts down below!
