A nice cold beer in my opinion can be essential in a variety of situations. Drinking a cold one while watching your favorite sports team either win or lose. Or while decompressing after a long workday. Or what about just good old fashion gossip with your buddies? With so many different kinds of beers out there, it would seem that there is something out there for everyone.
Sometimes, for some, drinking a beer is not enough. They need to express their passion for beer by creating their own brews. This is the topic of Christo Brock’s documentary, Brewmance. This film looks at two groups of homebrewers from Long Beach, California. They are aspiring to open their own breweries and further develop their flavors.
Here is the synopsis for Brewmance
The American Craft Beer movement began with a group of restless homebrewers searching for something genuine and flavorful. Today it’s evolved into a redefinition of beer and an international cultural phenomenon. That uniquely American spirit of rebellion and innovation survives in two groups of homebrewers from Long Beach, California who are looking to open their own breweries and bring their beers to the world. These include a Christian father-son team who grew close over making beer and a retired rock star looking for the “quiet” existence of a brewery owner.
With the insight and commentary of legendary brewers Ken Grossman (Sierra Nevada), Fritz Maytag (Anchor Brewing), Charlie Papazian, Vinnie Cilurzo (Russian River), Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head), Jim Koch (Boston Brewing) and others, BREWMANCE reveals the soul of craft beer in the heart of America.
With Brewmance’s release today, LRM Online had the opportunity to talk with Christo Brock. He is the filmmaker behind the documentary. During our conversation, we talk about what he learned from spending time with the two groups attempting to start their own breweries. We couldn’t have this conversation without also talking about our favorite beers! You can check out the interview down below!
Brewmance is now available on VOD on all major platforms.
