THR reports that Christopher Lloyd joins The Mandalorian Season 3. The actor, definitely most known for his work on the classic Back to the Future movies is now a staggering 83 years old. Lloyd was working recently on Bob Odenkirk starring Nobody. I’d be tempted to call it a day at 83, but maybe that’s why he still going strong? THR reports the following.
Character details for his role are being kept locked in the trunk of a DeLorean, but it has been described as guest-starring in nature. Lucasfilm could not be reached for comment.
If this is a guest-star role, then it could be that Lloyd only appears in one episode of the show? However without some context, who knows? There is nothing on the Barside Buzz about Lloyd in Mando S3 prior to this. Therefore until more information comes to light, it’s anyone’s guess? I’m going to guess that at least the fans of the original Star Wars in the ’70’s and ’80’s, are likely also fans of the BTTF movies. I certainly don’t know anyone around my age who doesn’t love at least Back to the Future. Given we got Carl Weathers, I’m definitely a fan of seeing some of these old legends coming back. Especially to be canonized in Star Wars lore, it’s cool.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is filming now. The hope among fans is that we may get to see the show sometimes in the latter part of 2022 or early 2023. However given there are no plot details to go on, this news does allow us to wildly speculate on who Lloyd will be? It’s likely a brand new character created for the show. However that won’t stop the fan base fan casting Lloyd as like the presumed dead father of Din Djarin. Or, Jango Fett’s long lost brother from a different mother.
