In Chuck Berry, the documentary tells his story as the absolute instigator of Rock and Roll. The story is genuinely revealed with exclusive access to his family, friends, famous fans, and the music icons he inspired.
Some of the interviews feature Gene Simmons, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Steven Van Zandt, Nils Lofgren, George Thorogood, Joe Bonamassa, Nile Rodgers, Johnny Rivers, Themetta Berry, Charles Berry Jr., Ingrid Berry, Marshall Chess, Joe Edwards and many more.
Berry’s life was never covered on screen that included Chuck Berry’s 60th birthday concert, and the drama surrounding it was captured in Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll. The documentary includes exclusive access to Mrs. Berry and the Berry family.
John Brewer directed the official documentary. He is an award-winning filmmaker who has past credits including BB King: The Life of Riley and Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark.
Berry was amongst the first musicians to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 for having “laid the groundwork for not only a rock and roll sound but a rock and roll stance.” His legacy and influences were covered by music legends, including Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, AC/DC, David Bowie, and Buddy Holly.
This documentary production worked closely with the Chuck Berry Estate.
The film made its world premiere last year at the Nashville Film Festival. Chuck Berry documentary opens in theaters and On Demand soon.
