Stranger Things: The Best Character In Season 3 Upped To Series Regular In Season 4

Stranger Things isn’t just known for its monsters, scares, and ‘80s pop culture. It’s also known for its amazing characters. From Eleven to Dustin and Steve, the internet isn’t wanting for characters to fall in love with. But there’s one character who really made a splash in Season 2 in spite of her limited involvement. I’m, of course, talking about Erica Sinclair, Lucas’ younger, “cooler” (?) sister who can’t help but constantly belittle her older brother about being a grade-A nerd. Portrayed by Priah Ferguson, she was a great foil to the rest of the geekier, less cynical main crew.

In Season 3, Ferguson’s character was upped to a recurring role. While she wasn’t too involved in those early Stranger Things 3 episodes, the character became more integral to the plot involving the Russians and a mysterious underground base.

Now, it looks like she’ll have an even bigger role to play in Stranger Things 4. Variety is reporting that Ferguson has had her role upped to series regular, meaning we’re likely to see a lot more of her. But what will her role in the overall story be and will she actually be on friendlier terms with the rest of the Stranger Things gang? That remains to be seen.

Personally, I loved what she brought to that third season of the show. Not only was she actively mean-spirited, cynical, and enterprising, but she also had a kind of no-nonsense vibe that worked well with Dustin, Steve, and Robin. In some ways, I kind of felt like she said and did things a lot of audiences would have wanted the characters to do, and very much fulfilled that “oh, my god, just do the thing” kind of screen-yelling moments we could have seen.

Thus far, we really don’t know what the story of Stranger Things 4 will be. Our heroes are scattered, and as was revealed in last week’s teaser, Hopper is now being held captive by the Russians. Your guess is as good as mine as to how this usually-intimate series will play out next season.
