This Thursday get ready for a scary, fun time with the Shudder Original, The Mortuary Collection. This film is a horror anthology that is the feature debut from writer/director Ryan Spindell. If you like classic films like Creepshow or classic television like Tales from the Crypt, your in for a good time. The film stars beloved actor Clancy Brown as an eccentric mortician who keeps track of the variety of deaths that come through his doors. But when a young drifter, played by Caitlin Custer, applies for a job there, she learns about the strange history of the town through a series of twisted tales that are more terrifying than the last.

Thanks to Shudder, I had the opportunity to check out this film ahead of time. I think what surprised me the most about it was how much fun I had watching it. Spindell does a great job at pacing the film well which takes us on a horrific ride that culminates with a satisfying ending. Brown plays Montgomery Dark, who delivers a lot more personality than I had expected. It comes out a lot, thanks to the chemistry with Custer’s character, Sam, whose character despite seeming like a total opposite as the Dark, might be more of a handful than he expects. Little do they both know that their meeting will change things forever.

Ahead of The Mortuary Collection‘s release this week, LRM Online had the opportunity to take a moment to talk with actors Brown, Custer, and the director Spindell. In our conversation, we talk about a variety of topics about the film that include the process of putting together the film. Montgomery Dark and Sam’s chemistry on set.
