Cloak and Dagger surprised me a little when Season 1 first hit screens. On first look I saw an average teen drama that I thought would hold little interest for this old man. However, I found myself engaged with the show and enjoyed it for what it was. I also felt that things could get a lot better as the Seasons progressed so I am looking forward to seeing how Season 2 pans out.
Season 2 will arrive on April 4th on Freeform and again will star Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen) and Aubrey Jospeh (Tyrone Johnson) as the title characters known as Cloak and Dagger. Season 2 will also once again feature Emma Lahana as Detective O’Reilly and whilst she had a large role in Season 1, that looks like it is expanding somewhat in Season 2. After dying and being resurrected in the finale of Season 1 Detective O’Reilly is becoming the anti-hero Mayhem and this promo does it’s best to tease that change in Lahana’s character.

It’ll be interesting to see if Mayhem works with Tandy and Tyrone or against them in Season 2, and the answer to that may well depend on whether there is a common threat to all in this season. There were some villain teases in Season 1 which could appear in this season of the show, or they could be held back till further down the line. One thing we do know is that creator Joe Pokaski has already said things are going to get a bit more bizarre and ‘super’ in future seasons.
This show could easily go one of two ways this Season. It could carry on and improve and become a really interesting little show, or it could try and reset a lot of the drama from season 1 and devolve into something generic and boring. Let us hope it is the former and not the latter.
