If case you haven’t heard the best YouTube Orignal ever, Cobra Kai, is moving over to Netflix for its upcoming and highly-anticipated third season. YouTube reportedly wanted to reduce spending on original productions and decided to let go of the hit series. Along with the new episodes that are on their way to us, Seasons 1 and 2 will be arriving on Netflix on August 28.

Netflix was in the running to host the show originally but eventually lost out to YouTube. I was pleasantly surprised by the stellar job of YoutTube. Judging by their other original series, I wasn’t confident the would do the series and the franchise justice. The show is great. I may be biased due to the fact I grew up loving The Karate Kid. However, I think the show will work for a younger crowd as well, who are new to the franchise.
After watching Cobra Kai, I find myself watching the original Karate Kid in a different way. I had always thought that Johnny showed he had the potential to be at the very least a decent guy with his, ‘You’re alright LaRusso’ line at the end of the film. Now, Cobra Kai has taken that idea further, to the point that I root for Johnny in the series, Daniel acts like a dick at times.
Perhaps Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother was correct all along in saying Johnny Lawrence was the film’s hero and the real Karate Kid.
Still unknown is the Season 3 premiere date.
