Interesting timing given the recent rumors, but Colman Domingo says he wants to play a villain in the MCU or DCU. This follows rumors (started by Daniel RPK) that Domingo is one of Marvel’s top choices to replacer Jonathan Majors as Kang. You can check out the related section below for that story and my thoughts. However, it is perhaps coincidental, but interesting that these comments came around the same time.

Domingo was asked if he’d jump at the chance to work with Nia DaCosta again if she asked him to appear in The Marvels 2 or something like that? DaCosta of course directed The Marvels and has also directed Domingo in the past. It appears Colman is a big fan of DaCosta.

So, is he cautious, or is he jumping in?

“I’m jumping in. It’s funny. Just the other day, I was looking at something and I thought like that’s wild. I haven’t been a part of any [universe]. I’m part of the Fear the Walking Dead universe, but when it comes to Marvel or DC, I think I’m ready now. I’m worked out, fit… I just want to be the villain. I don’t want to be the good guy. I want to do some really dirty, nasty work.”

For now there is no solid indication Domingo is going to be Kang. However, he seems keen, he’s a great character actor it seems, and Marvel needs a new Kang. This interview alone should capture the attention of both Kevin Feige and James Gunn over at DCU.

I guess we will just need to wait and see though. I doubt any Kang recast is something happening imminently. after all, Marvel will want to do some homework before we recruit anyone else to the role. It does seem like perhaps they didn’t do enough background check on Majors. Though that’s not fact and based only on some rumors from old acting students who worked with Majors.
