disney fox merger

It comes as no surprise to learn that Comcast have officially announced they are ready to come back in and try and take Fox from under the noses of Disney.

Normally mega money business deals are not what we report on here at LRM. However, Disney would be acquiring the rights to all of Fox movie and TV IP’s. That means the likes of X-Men and The Fantastic Four would be fair game for inclusion in the MCU.

We have recently reported on the rumors of Comcast coming back in, and the fact that Disney could be prepared to let go of Sky TV in order to make sure they get their hands on those IP’s.

Here is the official statement as reported by Deadline

“Comcast confirms that is is considering, and is in advanced stages of preparing, an offer for the businesses that Fox has agreed to sell to Disney.”

Whilst Comcast indicated no final decison had been made they did say

“Any offer for Fox would be all-cash and at a premium to the value of the current all-share offer from Disney. The work to finance the all-cash offer and make the key regulatory filings is well advanced.”

I know the concerns of fans have literally no impact on this kind of big money deal, but is there anyone out there in geekdom, that wouldn’t be gutted if Disney didn’t get hold of Fox.

The likelihood seems to still favour Disney, as financial experts are slightly bewildered by Comcast’s reasons for desiring all the movie and TV IP’s. Maybe the stock could be broken up a little more, with Comcast and Disney choosing the assets that suit them?

Watch this space folks, this one sounds to me like it could drag out for a lot longer than we first thought. Leave any thoughts you have in the usual place below.
