Could an Enchantment Sequel Announcement Be Coming Soon?

One of my favorite Disney films is 2007’s Enchanted a live action/animated musical film starring Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon. This film is a kind of parody of what we know as the classic Disney animated princess film. It follows Giselle, played by Adams, who is transported from her animated world of Andalasia into the harsh real world of New York City. She was quickly followed by her supposed Prince Edward, played by Marsden and his evil stepmother Queen Narissa played by Sarandon. As both Giselle and Edward look to reunite, she meets Robert Philips, played by Dempsey, who opens her eyes to reality. Overall it was a fun film with a lot of catchy tunes that were Academy Award nominees.

Twelve years later it looks like we might finally get an update on what happened to these characters, as the stars and creators have been teasing a potential sequel for a while. Editor-in Chief of TheDisInsider.com Skyler Shuler posted an interesting message on his Twitter account that read: “The long in development Enchanted sequel may finally be moving forward. We should get an update soon!”. Although this isn’t anything official Shuler has had a good track record on Disney project reports. Check it out below.

Earlier this year the songwriter for Enchanted Alan Menken had said that they were going to do Enchanted 2 during an interview with Den of Geek, ”Yes, we’re doing Enchanted 2,” Menken said. “We’ve had meetings. Five films I have right now that are waiting for a greenlight. They’re all standing at the light right now, and at some point they’re going to go ‘greenlight!’”

Being that the original film was made over a decade ago, it would be interesting to see how they would apply all of the social anxieties of this day and age. With D23 also around the corner it would make sense for an announcement for a film like this to be made soon. Would you like to see an Enchanted sequel? Let us know on the comment section below!
