Could We Have Seen The Last Of Rosario Dawson On The Netflix Marvel Series?

Rosario Dawson has without a doubt made a name for herself in the Marvel Universe, specifically in the Netflix series having a role in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Defenders. The only series she did not appear on was The Punisher. But could could we have seen the last of her in the second season of Luke Cage?

Talking during a panel at the 2018 Tribeca TVfest via IndieWire last Saturday she commented about her appearances to moderator Laverne Cox. One of her the topics was about her last appearance in episode 3 of the second season of Luke Cage titled “Wig Out” where she breaks up with Luke.

“I felt really grateful,’ she said, “because Cheo Hodari Coker was the showrunner, and it was kind of looking like, at least for that season, who knows if I’ll come back again? This was looking like it was going to be a big final scene for Claire, and it was really as a culmination of three years and being on five different shows.”

She goes on to say that she wasn’t sure if she would be back to another series, so she wanted to makes sure she had some input on her last scene. She comments about her reaction to the first time she saw that script.

“When the scene was first written, to be honest, it was a little bit more written on his side and his story line and that kind of stuff,” Dawson said. “And I approached Cheo and had the audacity of adding some lines and rewriting some stuff and asked him if that could work.”

Coker was happy to accept her suggestions, being that she wanted to make sure that what might be her last scene as Claire was well represented, “out of the instinct of knowing that after five different shows this was probably going to be at least for now a kind of goodbye for Claire. I wanted it to really honor this journey I’ve had with her, and what she’s been and what she’s stood for, and what she means to a lot of people.”

It would be strange not to see Dawson’s character in the upcoming Marvel Netflix series, if in fact the second season of Luke Cage was going to be the last time we saw her. IndieWire reached out to Marvel, who had no comment at the moment regarding her future appearances in Marvel series.
