Do you want to know how to pass the torch onto a new generation of characters? If you’re wondering how best to accomplish that goal, I recommend watching Creed from a few years back. It perfectly incorporates the old guard of a previous franchise without taking away the emphasis on the new guard of characters, namely one Adonis Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan.

As such, this next film, Creed II, has a lot of added pressure. It not only has to live up to the Rocky name, but also has to live up to the quality the first film gave us, all while pushing the franchise in a new direction. In the new featurette, we get to see the excitement and pressure those involved have to go through to make it happen.

One cool fact I didn’t realize was that this is actor Michael B. Jordan’s first sequel. With him being a relatively new talent, it makes sense, but given how many big franchises he’s been a part of, it’s still a surprise. With this comes a new challenge — building on the arc made in the first movie.

The featurette also highlighted Steven Caple Jr., who Creed director Ryan Coogler recommended to take on the movie. The great thing here is that they seem to be making an effort to make sure that this isn’t just a story that’s being told to fit a narrative or a franchise, but one that needs to be personal to the director.

Creed II hits theaters on November 21, 2018.
