Crunchyroll Introduces Three New Films and First Ten Minutes of Spy x Family Code: White at CinemaCon 2024

Although Sony did not have its proper presentation at this week’s CinemaCon 2024, the studio placed its chips with Crunchyroll to make a splash at the convention in Las Vegas and to celebrate its 10th anniversary this month.

The first ten minutes of the highly anticipated Spy x Family Code: White, set to hit theaters in North America on April 19, was an exclusive treat for the privileged CinemaCon attendees.

Spy x Family, now in its second season, is one of Crunchyroll’s most successful anime television series. It follows a secretive family led by a master spy, Twilight, his wife and assassin, Yor, and a daughter, Anya, who has telepathic abilities.

Here is the official description of Spy x Family Code: White:

He’s a spy. She’s an assassin. Together, Loid and Yor keep their double lives to themselves while pretending to be the perfect family. However, their adopted daughter Anya, a telepath, knows both of their exciting secrets unbeknownst to them. While under the guise of taking his family on a weekend winter getaway, Loid’s attempt to make progress on his current mission Operation Strix proves difficult when Anya mistakenly gets involved and triggered events that threaten world peace.

As a bonus treat from Crunchyroll at CinemaCon, the company introduced three new films with trailers in both sub/dub.

HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle

Crunchyroll acquired the North American rights and select international rights to this volleyball series. The film is set to be in theaters in North America beginning May 31, 2024.

Based on the original weekly Shonen Jump manga series from Haruichi Furudate, the sports anime revolves around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball.

Here is the official synopsis of HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle:

Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High’s vollyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the “Little Giant.” But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” the long-awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?

Blue Lock The Movie – Episode Nagi –

The studio also announced it had acquired North America and selected international rights for the soccer anime film. The sports thriller lands in theaters in North America beginning on June 28, 2024.

It is the first film of the anime sports franchise following a high schooler Nagi Seishiro as he discover his hidden talent for soccer.

Here is the official synopsis:

“That’s a hassle.” That was second-year high schooler Nagi Seishiro’s favorite phrase as he lived his dull life. Until Mikage Reo, a classmate who dreamed of winning the World Cup, discovered Nagi’s hidden skill, inspiring him to play soccer and share his outstanding talent. One day, he receives an invitation to the mysterious BLUE LOCK Project. What awaits him there is an encounter with the finest stikers assembled from across the country, Nagi’s dream of becoming the best, alongside Reo, will take this prodigy to a world he’s never known.

OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom

Finally, Crunchyroll acquired North America and selected international rights in EMEA and Latin America for the video game fantasy film. The film release date had not been announced at this time.

OVERLORD: The Sacred Kingdom is the first theatrical film based on the light novels by Kugane Maruyama. The film is a continuation of the series picking up after the conclusion of season four.

The story follows Momonga, a regular salary man who finds himself transported into his favorite video game.

All four seasons of OVERLORD are now streaming on Crunchyroll.
